D.C. Engagement Photography, Jefferson Memorial: Lexi and Devin

I met Lexi and Devin as part of a wedding workshop. They were models, who are actually a couple, chosen for our early morning Jefferson Memorial photoshoot. I instantly loved them. They were super stylish and incredibly cute together.

Cosplay Photography: Katsucon 2019

It seems my blog is getting full of cosplay photography. I’m ok with that.

Katsucon is the second convention I have gone to, and I always leave with a great impression of the cosplay community. Everyone is so nice and welcoming. When someone bumps into you, they turn around and apologize. Weird, right? I’ve been to plenty of concerts where that does not happen.

Cosplay Photography: Chantilly, Virginia

Looking for your next cosplay project? Check out these cosplay portraits with a Christmas twist. Featured is: Catwoman, RWBY and more!

This weekend is Katsucon! I am pretty excited to be going again this year. Seeing all the incredible cosplays is by far the best part of going to any convention. The work and artistry that is involved in the making of props, clothing, and accessories is always inspiring for me.

Cordell Crew: Harpers Ferry, West Virginia Family Session

“That was the quickest forty-five minutes of my life,” was what I told Lindsay at the end of their family session. In that short period of time we experience all emotions. Laughter with Daddy while the kids tickled him, tears when someones Lego creation broke, and hunger as we consumed Vanilla Wafers on the ride back to their house.

We took their photos on a crisp and beautiful fall evening in Harpers Ferry, and it was the most fun I’ve had in a long time! Continue reading “Cordell Crew: Harpers Ferry, West Virginia Family Session”

Cosplay Photography: Leesburg, Virginia

I’ve always loved fantasy novels, games, art, anything really. I’m obsessed with Brandon Sanderson novels, Zelda, and mythology. I found out about the world of cosplay after watching a short-lived show on the SyFy network called “Heroes of Cosplay.” I think they brought something similar back recently, but I haven’t watched it.

Anyways, I was amazed by the level of skill and artistry that went into these pieces of art people created. I love that they are everyday people who work normal jobs and then transform themselves into characters from beloved series, movies, and games. I started fantasizing about all the things I could create. It was part of the reason why I wanted to learn to sew. (I still haven’t gotten very far with that endeavor.)

Iron Musket CrossFit: Kearneysville, West Virginia, Family Session

I went to Iron Musket CrossFit until I was about seven months pregnant. The people there were always welcoming, and the workouts always kicked my ass. If you’re looking for an affordable and fun crossfit gym, Iron Musket is the place! I was pretty excited to go back for a day and catch the kids in action.

Now, I just need to get my butt back into working out.

Mary + Sophie: Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, Pet Session

Mary and I met through Instagram because we share a love of two things: hiking and dogs.

Early one spring morning, I met the pair for some photos in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. We talked as Sophie had free reign of the trails since no one else was around.

Everyday Makers: Anne Rule-Thompson, Ceramicist

“This is your ten-minute warning,” Anne shouts from downstairs at her two boys.

As the boys race from bedroom to bathroom to get ready for school, Anne and her husband make breakfast, feed the dog, and get the boys out the door.

The school-day scramble is in full swing and is the storm before the calm of Anne’s quiet downtown Bolivar, W.V., ceramics studio.

“There was a long time when the kids were little when I didn’t really have a place, and it was a struggle,” Anne said. “I guess that’s why I am here.”

Laurie & Jamie + Calvin: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Family Session

If you go a little bit deeper into the blog, you’ll see that I did maternity photos for Laurie and Jamie. I loved that they asked me to come back and take photos for their life after bump, and I had a great time getting to know this baby boo.

It was a special session for me, at the time, because I was seven months pregnant, and I was anxiously awaiting my life after bump. It was great to see all the love and giggles that were in store for me.

Northern Virginia Family Photography: Melinda and Jared’s Spring Session

It’s a warm spring day. A cute little family of four and I set out to take some spring family photos in Northern Virginia. Before the session, Melinda and I chatted about what her family likes to do together. Spending time at Morven Park was on the list.
