These Harpers Ferry engagement photos were months in the making. Jordan and I texted back and forth about location, time, and outfits for months before we decided on the Maryland Heights Overlook at sunrise.
When the day finally came, I met the two of them at the train parking lot in downtown Harpers Ferry. I saw downtown because that’s what everyone else calls it, but if you have ever been it’s basically two streets with cute shops and houses. The bookstore there is worth checking out though if you are into Civil War history.
Anyways, we started at that parking lot and hiked across the newly renovated bridge with coffees in hand. One thing I really enjoy about hiking with couples before I photograph them, is that I really get to know them. Hike for three hours with someone, and you will definitely know a lot more about their life.
So, on our hour and a half hike up I learned that they were currently doing the long distance relationship thing. That they use Harpers Ferry as a central location to meet, and, like me, they would like to own a campground someday.
When we finally made it down to the overlook, we were rewarded with a beautiful rainbow overlooking Harpers Ferry. The morning was a little foggy and cloudy, but the sun would peek out every know and then creating beautiful light for photos.
They are the only couple I have ever taken photos for who were lucky enough to have a rainbow grace us with it’s presence.
When the sun came out and lit up these gorgeous yellow leaves, I quickly snapped as many photos as I could.
Ok, back to the rainbow.
