I’m always looking to photograph me some cosplay. I met Jennifer (aka @thenext.jeneration on all things social) after putting out a call for help when my cosplay calendar was empty. She delivered with a beautiful Princess Margaret Cosplay from the The Crown during cherry blossom season (swoon).
BUT, that’s not what this is about. This is about Harry Potter, Gryffindor, and Jen’s amazing costuming skills. We met on a chilly fall morning at Manassas National Battlefield Park. I had done some google map stalking and the little house on the property seemed perfect.

Of course, while we were there some Civil War re-enactors happened to be there. Whenever I photograph Jennifer, it always seems people come out of nowhere to talk to her. I think they are drawn to her beautiful costumes. They kept asking her where her outfit was from and insisting she was from the wrong time period. So, after being harassed by some Union Soldiers, and explaining it’s all for fun, we headed off to explore the fields.

I looked up some 18th century poses before the shoot, and it was full of women delicately holding flowers, books, etc. I thought it would be fun to have Jennifer holding her wand in a similar pose as a nod to the time period of the costume.

THIS BROOM!

I love the way the costume pops against the yellow and greens we had that morning. They are definitely my favorite photos from the day.
