Kalero Vineyard: Virginia Vineyard Wedding Venue

Kalero Vineyard in Purcellville, Virginia is surrounded by beautiful mountains, green pastures, and gorgeous vines. As I made my way down the drive, my head wanted to look in every direction. There’s a cute old farmhouse on the property, an expansive vineyard to wander through, and, of course, the gorgeous barn.

Waiting for me by the beautiful doors was Ann Fortin, owner and caretaker. Ann is the type of person who is instantly warm and welcoming. If you decide to have Kalero Vineyard as your wedding venue, you will be in great hands.

While we talked, Ann gave me the tour and shared a little about the property’s history. The barn dates back to 1834 according to a cornerstone placed by the original owners.

When Ann and her husband purchased the property in 2016, they had to do take extensive renovations on the barn. Renovations were difficult because they wanted to preserve the integrity of the beautiful structure that managed to survive the Loudoun County burning raids during the Civil War.

As you walk through the venue, you can see their attention to detail in the remaining stonework, large timber beams, and the new barn doors that are hung with the original hardware.

Throughout the inside of the barn, reclaimed wood has been re-purposed for different purposes.

“The barn is built on the footprint of what it was,” Ann said. “We wanted to make it as true to its authentic self as possible.”

Upstairs there is a incredibly cozy loft, with a bathroom. The space can be used to get ready before the ceremony and then opened up for guests to look down on all the party action below.

As pretty as the inside is, the outside is definitely in competition for who is better.

The main ceremony site features a pergola framed by trees with the ever-present mountains in the background. While the pergola is the primary site, you can get married anywhere on the property. There’s a pretty willow tree that would be perfect for the boho-vibin’ bride. That’s also another perk when you book Kalero Vineyard for your wedding: you get the whole property. You can put up a tent, get married wherever you want, and decorate however you want.

The inside barn screams Harry Potter or Game of Thrones inspired weddings to me. It also works well for the obvious rustic choice, but can also be glam-boho too, I think.
